  1. That is kind of scary that you saw lots of snakes and even an alligator!!!! Congaree National Park looks like a great place to visit with pets!

    1. Living in Florida for so long, the gator wasn’t a surprise. It was out in the middle of the lake and we only saw it because I overheard another person talking about it so I asked them to point it out LOL. And the snakes were all off the path- I think most people missed them. I went with my friends who work with animals so we were all on the look out to see as many animals as possible!

    1. It was a great trip! It was one dog’s first camping trip and the other’s first trip without his fur-siblings. They both did really well 🙂

  2. I thought I’d want to visit here till I saw all those snakes! Yikes! Good to know though. Is this in Florida? It looks beautiful and seems like your pup enjoyed it too.

    1. This park is in South Carolina. The snakes we saw were all off path and we knew what to look for 😉 So if you don’t like snakes, you’d be fine! There’s enough people on the boardwalk that as long as you didn’t go first thing in the morning, the trail should be clear

  3. Congaree National Park looks like a great spot for outdoor adventures. Even if I do hope to miss the snakes! We would definitely stay long enough to do some kayaking. I love the idea of a mosquito meter so I know how much bug spray to coat myself in.

    1. The snakes were all ‘sunning themselves’ on things in the water so as long as you stick to the paths there should be enough traffic on the main trails where you won’t get too close to one. 🙂

  4. I would like to find some birds and do kayaking since I’m always hunting for the best views haha. Loved this article, great job like always!

    1. Awww, Thank you! We weren’t sure how one of the dogs would do on a kayak so we stuck to hiking only but I def want to go back and kayak some day!

    1. The snakes were all off-trail, and typically on the downed trees in the water so you’d be safe! I found my dog was much happier being carried since he did not trust the wooden boardwalk LOL

  5. As a hiker, outdoors enthusiast and dog lover this post is everything I want my travels to be! Thank you for such a detailed guide – added to my bucket list of experiences 🙂
