The Coffee Quest has gone through several changes over the years but the main goal is the same. Get your coffee passport, visit the participating coffee shops, and win prizes!
Sounds simple, right? Visiting these local cafes will require some planning since they are spread throughout several cities and have different hours. What is Toledo’s Coffee Quest 419?
Coffee Quest 419 was started to encourage people to get out and discover new local businesses to grab an iced coffee or go to brunch with a friend. All you do is make a purchase from each participating shop to get it crossed off your digital passport. After you have visited a certain number of shops, you can claim your prize!
The History of Coffee Quest 419
Coffee Quest 419 started in May 2018 with 13 independent coffee shops participating. You would get a small card you needed to stamp at each shop. People would have about a month to complete their cards and turn them in for a free t-shirt.
So far, Coffee Quest 419 has also happened in May 2019, September 2021, and Jan 2023. Each year, more shops have joined in making this a great opportunity for people to get out and discover new specialty coffee, espresso drinks, and baked goods.
Starting in 2024, this program has been taken over by Destination Toledo.
The 2024 Details of Coffee Quest 419
This year, Coffee Quest 419 kicks off on August 1, 2024, and you will have until October 31st to earn your prizes. 27 total local coffee houses are participating this year.
The 2024 design was made by local designer, Jacob Parr, and the shirts will be printed by Jupmode.
Some of these cafes are inside other businesses and others have a building all to themselves. A lot of these local coffee companies roast their coffee and espresso beans. So, if you find a drip coffee you like, you can buy ground coffee or whole-bean coffee if you have a grinder at home.
This is the first year that Destination Toledo is in charge of the quest. The passport has gone digital so you need to download their app. They also have more prizes available.
Once you’ve visited 3 shops, you get a themed sticker. Going to 23 of the cafes will get you a T-shirt. Visiting all 27 will put your name in a drawing for one of 3 grand prizes.
