Useful Gifts for Dog Owners
If you like giving gifts you know will be used, this gift guide is for you. There is no shortage of items that your average (and not-so-average) dog owner would be more than happy to receive. You can upgrade or add to their grooming equipment, toy collection, or buy them things to make being a pup-parent easier. Here are some of the best practical gifts for dog owners. This list is full of things they need to help life run smoothly and to keep their pup happy and healthy for years to come.
Gifts to Entertain
Every dog parent would love to receive gifts that will keep their pets busy and entertained. Toys and treats for their pup will never be turned down. Here are some gift ideas that will help keep their dog entertained for days!
Tasty Treats
There are so many creative, canine treats out there! They make dog versions of popcorn and even movie candy. You can also find seasonal treats like ‘Pumpkin Spice” in specialty stores or make your own at home. These gifts are great in a themed gift basket or on their own.
Silicone Molds
Silicone molds are great for making frozen dog popsicles and other homemade treats for their pets. There is no shortage of shapes and sizes available, making these the perfect gift for any holiday or occasion.
Interactive Dog Toys and Puzzles
A tired dog is a good dog. And a good dog is what all pet owners want! This is a great group of toys that will help stimulate their pup mentally and physically. These are perfect on cold and rainy days when they may not be able to get their dog’s energy out by going on walks.
Gifts for “On the Go”
This group of gifts is great for the dog owner who is always on the go. Whether they are traveling with their pet or without, these items will help them on their way.
Remington’s Pup Memory Passport
This booklet is great for making sure your special dog owner will have all their pup’s important information in one easily accessible place when they are traveling. It also doubles as a mini memory album where they can keep photos and notes about the trips they have taken together.
Light-up Leash
Don’t underestimate the importance of being seen at night. A light-up leash is great for night walks to let everyone know that they are sharing the path or road with someone very important.
Travel Gear
Here are several items to help keep your dog and owner duo safe, comfortable, and organized during their travels. Bags to transport their gear or to carry their tired pup, a dog-friendly first aid kit or a GPS tracker will help with all three! For more ideas, look at our Gift Guide for Traveling Dog Owners.
Cameras
What dog owner doesn’t want the ability to be able to keep an eye on their pet when they aren’t together? There are multiple camera systems now that allow them to be able to get a quick visual to systems where they can talk to or even give their pets treats!
Gifts for Health
These gifts will help keep their pet healthy which is the number one priority of all good pet owners. As we all age, the price of what we need to stay at the top of our game can start adding up. Here is a list of items that will help your favorite pet owner take the best care of their pup.
Baths and Nail Trims
Each type of dog will need slightly different things to keep them at the top of its game. Here are some of the basics that will make bathtime and nail trims at home a little easier.
Supplements or Medications
Unfortunately, some dogs need a little help to stay happy and healthy and the money it takes can start to add up quickly. Give a gift card, or buy some supplements they use to keep their dog in optimal health. You can even contact the vet clinic that they use and ask about putting credit on their account to help pay for upcoming medical fees.
For Anxious Dogs
If you know an anxious dog that may need a little help, items like Thundershirts may be the perfect gift. These are things that have helped our dogs be more comfortable during stressful events like thunderstorms or long car rides.
If you are looking for CBD oil for that special pup, we use and love Clean Remedies. They have a human and pet-friendly line of products so both owner and pet can be covered!
Reusable Diapers
Some dogs may start developing issues that cause them to have accidents in the house. Whether it’s from old age or a temporary health issue, diapers are a great way to help minimize the mess. When you get reusable, your friends will save money because they can use them again and again.
Gifts to Clean
Unless you are buying a present for Monica from “Friends”, gifts to help clean might not be at the top of your fun list. They are however a great practical gift. Dogs not only make life sweeter, but they can also make life a little messier.
Gifts for Comfort
You can’t go wrong with the gift of comfort. Beds, blankets, steps, and stairs are great ways to ensure the comfort of your favorite pup. With everything else on a dog owner’s plate, sometimes these items can be overlooked. That makes these items even more appreciated when they are received as gifts.
Beds and Blankets
A high-quality bed is the best comfort gift. Big Barker is known for their great American-made beds and waterproof covers to keep them protected. When in doubt about the quality of the bed, try sitting or lying down on it. If it’s not comfortable for you, it’s not comfortable for them!
Ramps and Stairs
Ramps and stairs may not be your typical holiday gift. However, they can help a pet that needs a little extra boost. Whether a pup is older or is at a higher risk for injury, a ramp or set of steps can make all the difference in the world.

Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that are more practical in nature. Holidays are a great excuse to splurge a little on something that may not be needed but would still be greatly appreciated. I hope this list helps you find the perfect practical gift for the dog owner in your life!

Great gift ideas. I really like the suggestion for the reusable diapers. When our precious pup was in her later years, diapers kept us from having to kennel her while we were out. Such a better quality of life for her.
We are currently using (and loving) them for our husky, Emma. The meds she is currently on are making her have accidents and these are a life saver!
These are awesome! My dog loves getting a new toy and festive treats for his Christmas gift!
I have more fun watching my pets get gifts than myself nowadays!

These are fun ideas! I no longer have a dog…she died of old age and I’ve never wanted to replace her. But everyone else in my family has at least one dog. I’ll share these suggestions.

I thought my Yorkie would appreciate stairs to get onto my bed. She hated them, but my cats thought they were pretty cool!
Our dogs took a while to get used to our bed stairs. They all will use them going up, but some won’t use them going down!
Great list. Will check out the beds, to keep them warm & cozy this winter.
Our pups are loving their newest bed!
Thank you for all these wonderful ideas! All of my friend’s are dog owners so this is very helpful for Christmas this year!
Glad it helped!! Have a Merry Christmas!
