Hello from a Travel-Loving Pet Owner!

There are two kinds of pet owners; ones that see their pet as “just an animal” and ones that see their pets as a true part of the family. In our house, we believe that animals are more than just pets, #petsarefamilytoo. As members of the family, they deserve to live a happy and healthy life.

My husband and I are proud pet parents of 3 dogs and 2 ferrets. Our dogs are a variety of sizes, breeds, and temperaments. This combined with having a career as a zookeeper for over 15 years gives me a unique insight into dealing with the challenges that come with all animal personality types.

With so many pets (and a habit of taking in foster or stray dogs), we have become pros at budgeting and finding low-cost solutions to keep our crew healthy and happy.

Add to the fact that I LOVE to travel, I am also very adept at planning low-cost itineraries AND have gained a ton of experience traveling with animals. Before I met my husband, my dog at the time (Remington) and I hit the road for 2 months while I was waiting for my next contract to start. I used my rent money for gas and food, and we spent a few blissful months on the road visiting family and friends.

Since then, we have been road-tripping with up to four dogs at once on our family trips. I promise it is not as hard as you think!

So, why can I help budget-friendly pet owners like you level up their pet-parenting skills and still have enough money left over to travel?

  • Between my husband and I, we have taken care of countless species in our homes including dogs, cats, rodents, birds, and reptiles.
  • As a zookeeper for over 15 years, I learned how to care for a variety of animals. This meant working with veterinarians to keep the animals healthy, diagnose, and treat any issues, and improve their quality of life through training and enrichment.
  • Animal jobs don’t pay well so I became a pro at surviving and thriving on a small budget. This includes finding ways to travel more with less money.
  • I traveled all around the Midwest for 2 months with my dog, Remington. And, my husband and I take several trips a year with all of our dogs. We constantly get compliments about our dogs on the road.
