It may be cold, but there are still plenty of reasons to visit Niagara Falls in winter. Not only will you avoid having to wait in long lines and battle crowds of people but there are still plenty of things to keep you occupied!
If you are looking for a great place to eat, I suggest Antica Pizzeria in Niagara Falls, Canada. It was recommended to us by a local and it didn’t disappoint!

Niagara Falls look incredible! It’s good you’ve given some other suggestions of what else to do during your visit too.
The outside stuff – behind the falls, the butterfly conservatory, and floral show house even though that is a bit inside – would be my jam! Good ways to make your trip to Niagara more complete.
Hi there! We have always wanted to visit Niagara Falls. I think it would be really fun to see from the Canadian side being from the U.S. Thanks for putting this together!
I’ve only stopped in Niagara briefly when my husband and I moved cross country but I’d love to spend more time there. Thanks for these ideas of things to do in Niagara in the winter!
I’ve done the journey behind the falls and Hershey world but none of the others. I don’t think I’ll be back for a while but some great ideas for when I do. I enjoyed the views of the falls, especially at night
I was surprised at how much I loved the 4D movie Niagara’s Fury. My husband wants to go back but I like to explore new places so we will see what happens LOL
I grew up in Buffalo NY so have been to Niagara Falls countless times. Somehow it never gets old! I particularly love the walk behind the Falls. When I last did that walk you could actually get close enough to reach out and FEEL the POWER of the water. I also love the Maid of the Mist boat excursion but don’t believe it runs in the winter. I also love walking on the American side across Goat Island from the Bridal Veil Falls to the Horseshoe. Very pretty.
The Maid of the Mist was one of the sacrifices we made going in the winter. Maybe next time we are in the area when it is running…. We did walk to Goat Island and took some time to enjoy the views! Saving more exploration for the New York side for another trip!
Hey Tiffany! This is a great article. I actually went on a family vacay to Niagara Falls and I loved it. Especially the Hershey Chocolate World! I would love to see more posts from you. Keep up the good work!
Not too many people think of visiting Niagara in the winter. This looks like a ton of fun, and I’m all about fewer crowds! We took our kids a few summers ago and did all the traditional Maid of the Mist stuff. It would be fun to go back in the winter and do more of the museum attractions and things you mentioned.
I visited Niagara Falls as a kid, definitely a great place to visit. It looks like there are some new things to see from when I went though, thank you for sharing!
I went to Niagara falls once upon a time maybe…2 decades ago? It’d be cool to go back someday though! I’d love to check out the butterfly conservatory + floral showhouse! :]
We don’t live too far from Niagara Falls, so over the years we have done it all! We are looking forward to hopefully being able to try out the new zipline next summer! We were at the Falls a couple of weeks ago for the Festival of Lights… and made sure to Visit Hershey World for some treats!
What a great sneak peek for someone who’s not ever been there, thank you for sharing! I’ve always wanted to go and see Niagara Falls and the behind the scenes action 😊
The falls in the winter is the best! So beautiful! I haven’t been to most of the tourist attractions but have hiked in the gorge and definitely seen the ice climbing up! Awesome

Thanks! I loved the tropical breaks from the cold! LOL

Great post! I visited Niagara Falls when I was 15, so that’s a while now. I definitely want to go back and revisit all these amazing places.
It is def worth another visit!
I have cousins in Buffalo, so have been to the Falls a number of times. I never did any of the other things, but riding the “Lady of the Mist” is fun.
I am totally excited about doing this now! THanks!
Even though I worked there for so many years I never did any of these things haha. But Niagara is a great little tourist city with so much to offer.
So much more to do than I imagined. Thanks for sharing!
I want to go to Niagara Falls. I was hoping to go next summer but I’m not sure if it will happen.
I love Niagara Falls! It’s so beautiful all year long but winter in the snow is spectacular!!

So many fun activities. I would really enjoy the Journey behind the falls!
I want chocolate! Haha. For real though, Niagara Falls is a must visit for me. I’ve never been.
It was fun! Especially having it for the most part to ourselves!!
Niagara Falls is on my bucket list. Looks like I’ll need to get a passport before we go.
